The NYPD is warning Lower East Side and Nolita restaurant and bar owners of a team of "well dressed" men who have been on a pickpocketing spree. In an email on Tuesday to nearby bars and restaurants, Crime Prevention Officer Rodney Rosado writes that the three men have been targeting customers:
They wait until roughly [the] 12:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m. time period (your most crowded time periods) and watch, pick, and distract. Three man team very good at what they do. Please have all employees on the lookout.
According to the NYPD, the men tend to pick bars in the area with smaller crowds and less security inside. Currently, police know of three reported incidences: one at The Delancey just north of the Williamsburg Bridge, and one each at Houston Street bars The Late Late and Fools Gold. No word yet on what has been stolen, or the monetary value. Eater has reached out to the NYPD. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
