The hottest burger in the Bay Area is visiting New York. Chef Chris Kronner will be cooking his wildly popular, bone marrow-topped KronnerBurger at two pop-ups in Brooklyn this week. The former Bar Tartine chef will be bringing the buns, the marrow, and the signature burger blend from Oakland to New York for the events — a combo that’s made Kronner a burger star out west.
The chef will be at Achilles Heel in Greenpoint from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Wednesday with just burgers, booze, and salad, and at the former Isa space in Williamsburg from 7 p.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday, with a more expanded menu that includes burgers, patty melts, and a vegan Earth Burger. The Isa event will be co-hosted with pop-up company Joint Venture, which will be offering seafood.
Kronner, who started making burgers as a pop-up in San Francisco and opened a brick-and-mortar just this past spring, uses a mixture of dry-aged beef, unaged grass-fed Angus beef, and short-rib and neck trim for his namesake burger. It’s topped with aged white cheddar mayo, charred red onions, dill pickles, and iceberg lettuce, and a salt-roasted bone marrow can be added on top. People in the Bay have been going nuts for it. Neither event requires a reservation.
