Iconic Brooklyn diner Junior’s Restaurant will be opening a new huge location near Times Square, not too far from its existing location. Flo Flab reports that the cheesecake behemoth plans to take over the sprawling space of shuttered BR Guest restaurant Ruby Foo’s, at 1626 Broadway. It will debut next year with 300 seats, a bakery, and live entertainment. Junior’s already has an outpost in the tourist hub, further south at 1515 Broadway, and that location will remain open.
It will be a third NYC location for Junior’s, which has been in its original Downtown Brooklyn location for more than 60 years. The restaurant has a location in Connecticut and previously had a location in the Grand Central Terminal, an outpost that closed in April not long after it caught on fire.
