1) NoHo: Today, the team behind LES Italian restaurant Sauce, and Australian partner Cory Lee, opened Coco & Cru, an all-day cafe. Breakfast options include huevos rancheros, buckwheat hotcakes, and avocado toast. Sandwiches are available after 12:00 p.m. and include choices like tempura cod with tartar sauce, a steak sandwich with romesco, and a mushroom and mozzarella sandwich. 2) Hell's Kitchen: West Village chicken finger restaurant Sticky's Finger Joint opened its third NYC location last week. Options on the Hell's Kitchen menu are the same as the other two locations, plus a few additions like a chicken finger wrap. The HK outpost is the first to serve beer. 3) Upper East Side: Neighborhood favorite The East Pole has a sister restaurant now called Eastfield’s. The vegetable-focused restaurant offers dishes like burrata with maitake mushrooms, riganetti with squash puree, and beet gazpacho with avocado and yogurt. Meat dishes include lamb shawarma with hummus, chicken parm, and skirt steak with chimichurri. Specialty cocktails range from $12 to $14. Status: Certified Open; 1479 York Avenue
4) Seaport District: Smorgasburg returned to the Seaport District last Friday just in time for the long weekend. The six vendors at Seaport Smorgasburg are Cemitas El Tigre, Home Frite, Landhaus, Lumpia Shack, Red Hook Lobster Pound, and Wowfulls. The space also offers both an indoor and outdoor bar. 5) Upper East Side: Irving Farm Coffee Roasters opened its latest location earlier this month on 81st Street. The cafe's menu offers bagels, salads, sandwiches, bowls, and a few egg dishes. Sandwich options include avocado with chicken; ham and gruyere; and grilled cheese. Irving Farm also offers several types of bagels. Status: Certified Open; 1424 Third Avenue, 212-206-0707
6) Ditmas Park: Matthew Fortune and John Marren are two Buffalo natives who recently opened Buffalo's Famous just south of Prospect Park. Due to the small space, Fortune and Marren are focusing on take-out options that pay homage to Western New York. Menu items include beef on weck (hot roast beef sandwich on a carraway and salted Kaiser roll); pierogis; a Rochester-inspired "garbage plate" (fries, coleslaw or macaroni salad, burgers, dogs, fingers, and meat sauce); and Sahlen’s hot dogs. 7) Hoboken: Located inside the W Hoboken, Halifax Restaurant is paying tribute to its namesake by serving a menu of coastal cuisine. Options from chef Seadon Shouse include Maine lobster rigatoni, blackened sea bass, a seafood stew, and redfish ceviche. The beverage program comes from Katherine Teodosic (Altamarea Group), and lists cocktails like the Dr. Feelgood, which has tequila, blueberry, Fresno chile, and grapefruit. 8) NoHo: New York favorite and Pizza Week 2014 winner Luzzo's Pizza is now operating out of 310 Bowery Bar. Luzzo's will be serving its Neopolitan-style pizzas alongside 310's cocktails, beers, and wine. The food menu from Luzzo’s includes a special "310 Bowery" pizza with mozzarella, mushrooms, prosciutto, and truffle pâté. 9) Gowanus: Brooklyn restaurant The Pines now has a taco stand in its backyard. Dubbed Josephina, the summertime stand will serve $5 tacos with options like barbecue lamb, chorizo with potatoes, and grilled steak.
