Enrique Olvera and his partners at Flatiron critical darling Cosme are planning a more casual Mexican restaurant with about 65 seats on the ground floor of the new six-story Morris Adjmi-designed building at 372 Lafayette Street. Tasting Table notes that the team applied for a liquor license under the name Atla, but that title might change before it opens. Partner Santiago Gomez explains: "We intend to open a restaurant by this year's end. We are looking forward to further deepen our roots in New York and create a space where people can gather around, grab a delicious bite and enjoy a nice cold michelada. We are finalizing the concept now."
Olvera operates several restaurants in Mexico City, including Pujol, an establishment that consistently ranks high on the World's 50 Best Restaurants list. Cosme opened in October 2014 to wide acclaim. Ryan Sutton awarded the restaurant three stars.
