Williamsburg darling Mr. Curry is no more. The unique curry restaurant that operated out of sandwich spot Saltie at night ended its tenure over the weekend, and its chef Rebecca Collerton left Saltie along with it. Collerton initially started Mr. Curry as a pop-up around Brooklyn and eventually turned it into a more permanent occurrence at Saltie. It ultimately received a very warm review in the Times from Ligaya Mishan, who said the food "is what you want to eat when you're tired of eating."
It's unclear why Collerton left, and Collerton and Saltie owner (and former Diner chef) Caroline Fidanza did not immediately respond to requests for comment. But the Instagram post with the announcement took a sad tone. It hashtagged the announcement with "#gunforhire" and "#shittyday" and noted that the end comes "with a heavy heart." "Thank you for making my time with you such a pleasure," she says. Meanwhile, Saltie is hiring for its kitchen. See the full post below.
