Chicago Titan Brendan Sodikoff Teases Prime Rib Restaurant on Charles Street

But what's happening to El Charro Espanol?

Earlier this year, prolific Chicago restaurateur Brendan Sodikoff's name appeared on a CB2 agenda linked to 4 Charles Street, the space that has housed El Charro Espanol for decades. And now, the homepage for his restaurant group, Hogsalt, includes a listing for a New York restaurant called Prime Rib at that very same address. Sodikoff also teased this new project on Facebook. Sadly, no other details are available at this time. Eater has reached out to the Hogsalt team to find out more about Sodikoff's foray into the New York dining scene. His constellation of hit Chicago restaurants includes the steakhouse Bavette's Bar and Boeuf, which is on the Chicago Eater 38 and the list of that city's nine essential steakhouses, although prime rib is not on the menu right now.

Nobody's picking up the phone at El Charro Espanol this evening. When Eater reached out a month and a half ago, a staff member did not know anything about Sodikoff's plans or any potential closure. There is no information about a possible shutter on the restaurant's website, either. Someone snapped an Instagram photo from inside the dining room last week. Stay tuned for more details on Prime Rib and the fate of El Charro Espanol as they become available.
