Hard Times Sundaes, the Mill Basin-based food truck that received a glowing Hungry City review from Ligaya Mishan, is expanding to Midtown next week. Proprietor Andrew Zurica is gearing up to open an outpost of his burger operation inside wildly popular Midtown food hall Urbanspace Vanderbilt Market. In addition to customizable burgers, Zurica will serve milkshakes, hot dogs, and "breakfast bread bowls."
The stand will replace Hong Kong Street Cart. When the market opened last summer, the operators announced plans to swap out vendors periodically. So far, Ippudo by Kuro-Obi replaced No.7, Asia Dog got swapped out for Liquiteria, and Hai Street Kitchen & Co took over the space that was originally home to Sips & Bites.

A rep for the market notes that the Hong Kong Street Cart team will still be part of Urbanspace's pop-up markets, like the Mad. Sq. Eats, which is returning to the Flatiron District soon. Hard Times will open inside the market on April 3.
