A 25-year-old transgender woman was raped in the bathroom of the historic West Village gay bar The Stonewall Inn on Saturday night, police say. The victim told police that she entered a single-stall unisex bathroom at around 11:30 p.m., and shortly thereafter a man entered claiming that he needed to wash his hands. He then groped and raped her. Gothamist reports that the man fled the scene immediately after the incident. The woman called the police and was later taken to Lenox Health Greenwich Village for treatment. No arrests have been made yet, but the ongoing investigation is being handled by the Manhattan Special Victims Unit. The police are currently looking for a man in his 30s who is about 250 pounds, and approximately 5' 10" tall.
