Danny Meyer is adding pizza to his roster of food offerings at Citi Field this year. The new pizza counter, Papa Rosso, will be near Union Square Hospitality Group's other Citi Field outposts at the Field Level. Already, the area offers Shake Shack, Blue Smoke, Box Frites, and El Verano Taqueria. The pizzas will be Neopolitan-style "with a touch of New York flair," according to a Union Square Hospitality Group officials. Toppings will be "straightforward" and regionally sourced. More details and the full menu will be released next week.
Meyer has been a vendor at Citi Field for years now, and since then, visitors to the Mets stadium can eat everything from burgers and french fries to barbecue and tacos from his group. Other notable names who serve at Citi Field include Josh Capon, Pat LaFrieda, Rao's Specialty Foods, Drew Nieporent, and Dave Pasternack, part of a growing trend to pump up food options at stadiums. Check in with last year's picks for best eats at the stadium here, and stay tuned as more details become available on the new offerings.
