Chef Eduard Frauneder is opening his latest project Freud tonight in Greenwich Village. Frauneder  the Vienna-born chef behind Edi & the Wolf and dearly departed Seasonal will serve a contemporary take on Austrian fare out of the space at 506 LaGuardia Place. Options on the menu include wiener schnitzel with cucumber salad, cranberry, and Yukon potato salad; pork neck with bacon and sweet potatoes; and albacore crudo with pumpkin and sunchokes. The cocktail program at Freud comes from the team behind Edi & the Wolf's sister cocktail bar The Third Man. To start, Freud will be open nightly for dinner with plans to start daytime service soon. Stay tuned for photos coming later this week.
