It has "fried chicken" in the name, but Delaney tells Eater the exact concept is still up in the air.

Barbecue and fried chicken maven Daniel Delaney is looking at opening a new restaurant in the East Village, according to a Manhattan Community Board 3 liquor license application agenda. It's called Delaney Chicken Union Square LLC, but Delaney tells Eater that it's not guaranteed to be an outpost of his UrbanSpace Vanderbilt stall Delaney Chicken. "We are exploring a number of options, including getting a liquor license in that space, but we have not signed a lease," he says.

It's not the first time Delaney has dipped his toes into a neighborhood with a liquor license application. Delaney, who owns Delaney BBQ and Delaney Chicken, filed an application for a liquor license in Greenpoint last year, but he says currently nothing is happening with that project. The East Village space previously housed Ashiya Sushi, according to EV Grieve, which first reported the news. The Delaney team is expected to present to the community board's liquor license committee on March 14th. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
