Michael Lomonaco has temporarily closed Porter House NY for a top-to-bottom renovation of the restaurant. "We felt that after almost a decade it was time to refresh the space" Lomonaco tells Eater. Porter House NY opened 10 years ago in the Time Warner Center and rapidly established itself as one of the city's preeminent steakhouses. While the space will remain the same structurally, including the cherry wood paneling, almost everything else — tables, chairs, lighting — will be replaced.
New floors will be installed in both the dining room, where stone will replace carpet, and bar areas. The latter will also see a new marble bar installed and a space that the chef says will better serve the guests. The interior design is being performed by Jeffrey Beer International, the same firm who designed the original incarnation of Porter House NY.
The renovations are expect to last several weeks, with an anticipated mid-March reopening. The menu will also see some changes, and while Lomonaco would not give specifics he is clear that "the core items will remain. Stay tuned for an inside peek and menu details next month.
