Fuku, the restaurant that kicked off the chicken sandwich craze of 2015/2016, is getting a downtown spinoff at 110 Wall Street. The storefront is right around the corner from Pier 17, where Momofuku head honcho David Chang will open a new sit-down restaurant next year. A rep for the group says that the new Fuku is "currently in development," and the team does not have a projected opening date yet. For those keeping track at home, this will be the fifth member of the Fuku family. The other locations are in the East Village, Midtown, inside Madison Square Garden, and at Citi Field. Chang and Co. also opened a pop-up version of the restaurant at the US Open in August. After sampling 10 new fried chicken sandwiches last fall, Eater critic Robert Sietsema deemed that the Fuku Plus "Mini Me" version was the most delicious of the bunch.
