Employees at Roberta’s are getting death threats from people who believe the restaurant is tied to "Pizzagate" — a fake conspiracy theory about Hillary Clinton running a child abuse ring out of a D.C. pizza parlor, according to a report from DNAinfo. The hip East Williamsburg-Bushwick pizzeria has been getting phone calls from people saying "you are going to bleed and be tortured" after word spread online that Roberta’s was somehow involved in the fake child abuse ring. This comes just days after a man fired a gun in Comet Ping Pong in Washington, D.C. while investigating the pizzeria for the same claim.
Many videos and images using Roberta’s skull-heavy art have popped up as fake proof of the restaurant’s satanic ties, but so far, no one has been arrested for making the threatening phone calls, DNAinfo reports. The harassment sounds like it has just started at the popular pizzeria, but Comet Ping Pong in D.C. has been going through the ringer over the spread of the fake news story for weeks, with dozens of threatening calls and messages on social media. Roberta’s has not yet commented on the threats
Pzzagate’s conspiracy theory has been determined to be false by many sources, including by president-elect Donald Trump. Still, the story has spread, fueled by support from Trump’s supporters and people close to him.
