The 12 Days of Poke: Wisefish on West 19th Street

Eater’s senior critic continues his survey of NYC’s trendiest dish

On the Tenth Day of Poke, My True Love Gave to Me…

The Chelsea at Wisefish: Poke has the capacity to elicit reverence among its adoring fans, no more so than at Wisefish, a Chelsea poke parlor. Perhaps it’s the dish’s healthy aura, but I was moved (with the encouragement of My True Love) to order The Chelsea, one of the shop’s pre-set bowls (patrons are also encourage to formulate their own). It features soy-marinated tofu, which, along with edamame, makes an altogether satisfying salad, but is it really poke without the fish? 263 W 19th St, 212-367-7653.
