Chef Daniel Burns is moving on from his Nordic tasting menu

Pour one out for Luksus, the Nordic tasting menu counter in the back of Greenpoint beer bar Tørst. The Michelin-starred restaurant from chef Daniel Burns will be serving its final meals on December 31. Burns, an alum of Noma and Momofuku’s culinary lab, will be moving onto other projects in the new year, starting with chef collaboration dinners overseas at places like Omnivore in Paris.

Luksus first debuted in 2013 at the back of Torst. In 2014, the small, ambitious restaurant was the first place to gain a Michelin star without serving liquor or wine with the meal. Instead, Luksus paired the meal with beer, including from Torst’s Evil Twin brewer Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergsø. It was part of a goal to make a serious, beer-centric restaurant. It's the second Michelin-starred restaurant in Brooklyn to close this month, after the Chef's Table at Brooklyn Fare made its move to Manhattan earlier this week.

Still, it’s not the end for Tørst. The beer bar, at 615 Manhattan Ave. near Nassau Ave., has a cult following for its beer alone, and it will stay open. The food program will expand after Luksus closes. Stay tuned for what that will look like in the new year.
