Frank Castronovo and Frank Falcinelli — the chefs behind pitch-perfect neighborhood restaurants Frankies 457 and Prime Meats — are planning to open a new project in a development in the Lawrenceville neighborhood of Pittsburgh, PA. This will be the dynamic duo’s first restaurant outside the New York City area. According to a report in the Pittsburgh Business Times, the Franks are working with local chef Greg Alauzen on this new project, as well as Fabian Friedland of the NY-based Crow Hill Development group.
At a community meeting last month, a business associate of The Franks explained that they planned to open an Italian restaurant with a "lot of fresh pastas, sandwiches and salads." The representative wouldn’t offer the name of the establishment, but that description sounds quite a bit like Frankies 457 in Carroll Gardens and its Manhattan spinoff Frankies 570. No leases have been signed yet, but the space inside a former YMCA building is right across Butler Street from a forthcoming Pittsburgh branch of Brooklyn barbecue restaurant Morgan’s.
Eater reached out to the director of communications for the group, but the team is not divulging any more info at this time. Stay tuned for more details on the impending Franks expansion as they become available.
