Michelin-starred chef Gabriel Kreuther is opening a chocolate shop this week with pastry chef Marc Aumont. Set to open tomorrow, Kreuther Handcrafted Chocolate will operate as an annex to Kreuther’s Bryant Park restaurant at 43 West 42nd Street, near Sixth Avenue. Aumont, who is also the pastry chef at Kreuther’s eponymous restaurant, moved to the United States from France to open David Bouley’s now shuttered Bouley Bakery. The chef went on to spend 10 years at The Modern (where he met Kreuther), where created The Modern’s famous chocolate dessert cart.

Kreuther Handcrafted Chocolate offers 15 seats, as well as a view of a glass-encased chocolate workshop. Visitors can watch as confections like roasted-pineapple coconut bonbons, concord grape and yogurt bonbons, and Tahitian vanilla ganache are made. The lofty, industrial space will be serving other sweets like macarons, lemon tea cake, and praline mousse with orange crème brûlée. If you happen to stop by, be sure to let us know what you think.
