Popular Midtown braised meat sandwich shop Untamed Sandwiches will soon be feeding the masses in Dumbo. The lunch hit’s new outpost at 117 Adams Street., near Sands Street, starts previews and friends and family service today, and it will officially open to the public on Friday. The restaurant attracted long lines and a following of sandwich obsessives when it first opened in 2014 because of owner Andrew Jacobi and chef Ricky King’s seasonally-changing menu of big sandwiches.
The new Dumbo location’s opening menu includes options like the Little Neck, a braised lamb neck sandwich with walnut nettle pesto, gruyere cheese, pickled spring onions, and charred onion tops, and the Sheemakers Bounty, a charred broccoli sandwich with fried almond butter, pickled raisin jelly, and cress. The team’s also bringing back an old favorite that they’ve taken off the menu, The Chupacabra, at the Dumbo location. The red wine braised goat sandwich with kohlrabi slaw and red onion was a best seller. When Eater critic Robert Sietsema first tried it, he called it "a perfect marriage of flavors."
It's not the only new location planned for the shop. The fast casual restaurant recently signed a 10-year-lease in Midtown East. Untamed Sandwiches opens its new Brooklyn location on Friday, November 4 at 11 a.m. As part of the grand opening, all diners who buy a sandwich will receive a free cookie gelato push pops, available in Aleppo pepper peanut butter or chocolate almond saltie flavors.
