Champion Coffee is getting a new flagship cafe in the neighborhood where the company got its start. Owner Talitha Whidbee — who founded Champion Coffee in 2006 on Manhattan Avenue — is putting the finishing touches on a 1,800 square foot space at 1107 Manhattan Avenue, directly across the street from where the original cafe once was. Set to open next Thursday, the new location will join Greenpoint sister shop at 142 Nassau Avenue, as well as an outpost of the coffee shop at permanent outdoor food hall The Bowery Market. Alongside Champion's Northern Italian-inspired coffee blends the team will be serving menu options like house-made granola, an egg sandwich, and avocado toast.

Last August, Whidbee closed the original Manhattan Avenue Champion Coffee due to "some unforeseen circumstances." Stay tuned for more news on Champion’s new location as it becomes available.
