La Newyorkina’s First Brick-and-Mortar Debuts Today in Greenwich Village

Paletas and ice cream on Sullivan Street

Fany Gerson, the chef and co-owner of Dough, opened the first brick-and-mortar of her popular paleta concept La Newyorkina today. Previously, the Mexico City-born chef was selling her Mexican ice pops at over 30 restaurants, stores, and pop-ups all around New York City.

At the new Sullivan Street storefront, Gerson is offering flavors both old and new of her homemade paletas, including new flavors like avocado-passion fruit, flan, and fresa fields, a strawberry paleta with Maria cookies. New to the lineup is Gerson’s ice cream, available in flavors such as tres leches, Oaxacan chocolate, tropical margarita, and coffee. TAnother first: She’ll be making traditional nieve de garrafa, a water-based Mexican sorbet.

The small, bright-blue storefront (previously home to Peanut Butter & Co.) has a few stools and a counter by the front window. To celebrate today's opening, all paletas are free until 6:00 p.m. Be sure to let us know what you think if you stop by.
