LA Superstars Jon Shook & Vinny Dotolo Cook Up Halloween Weekend Special at Shake Shack

Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo — the duo behind L.A. restaurants Animal, Son of a Gun, Trois Mec, and Petit Trois — will be coming to New York for Halloween, doing a guest burger stint at the original Shake Shack in Madison Square Park. "When Shake Shack came to L.A. we helped them, and they did a takeover at Son of a Gun before opening the first one,'' recalls Shook. He says they originally intended to do a bone marrow burger blend topped with a cheese-pepper-onion melt, but when they discovered Shake Shack had no salamander, they scrapped that version. "It wouldn't melt correctly, and we are also using their bun and it ate a little sweet with that burger, so we killed it and it's back to the drawing board.''

There are two new possible patties. "We are playing with one that is in a Mexican direction and another with steak sauce and a really good aged cheddar,'' he reports. " We are testing them both out in L.A. and we like to make them, eat them, talk about them and modify.''

Look for the final product to hit the park on October 28.
