Work is nearly done on Momofuku's new restaurant at 232 Eighth Avenue in Chelsea. The team applied for a liquor license at the space back in July, and since then, David Chang & Co. have not revealed very much about this new project. The kitchen has been used for part of the Fuku delivery service since October, and a peek through the window last week revealed a space decked out in long communal tables, similar to the ones at Noodle Bar.
A reliable source tells Eater is that the restaurant has been hosting invite-only previews recently, and the food has both Korean and Italian influences. Prices might be slightly higher than Noodle Bar, so after opening two fast casual NYC restaurants in 2015, Chang is returning to something a bit more formal. The new Momo restaurant could open as early as next week. If you hear any details about Momofuku Chelsea, let us know.
