Ippudo Spinoff Kuro-Obi to Open Inside Urbanspace Vanderbilt Next Week

You can add thick-cut bacon and parmesan cheese to the noodles.

Midtown's wildly popular new food court Urbanspace Vanderbilt is getting a stall from the Ippudo team next week. Kuro-Obi by Ippudo, as it's dubbed, will specialize in chicken broth-based tori-paitan ramen, and the menu will also include a shoyu-based ramen as well.  The Ippudo team is also throwing some craziness into the mix by offering add-ons like Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, basil, and thick-cut bacon.  Noodle soups will be available to-go — a first for Ippudo. The new stall will replace Tyler Kord's No 7. stand, which was always slated to have a temporary run at the market.  A rep for the market explains that it "was designed to allow new concepts to rotate in and out." Ippudo's new stall will stick around here "for some time," according to the rep.

The food court also features stalls from Roberta's, Amali, Delaney Chicken, Red Hook Lobster Pound, and Ovenly. The place can be a total clusterfuck during lunch, but it's fairly mellow in the late afternoons and on the weekends.
