The Regal

The team behind Lower East Side restaurant Hotel Chantelle has taken over the space next to the Williamsburg Bridge at 163 Hope Street that housed Hope Garage. Seth Levine, Ravi Patel, Frank Alessio, and Kyle O' Brien are partnering with Hope Garage's former owner Delores Hoskins Auguet in The Regal, a 70-seat diner and cocktail bar set to open tonight. "We fell in love with the idea of The Regal because Brooklyn is thriving right now, so when this concept came to us, we thought it would be cool to add a different type of venue to our portfolio, and in an area that could have fun with it,'' says Levine, who will be the restaurant's executive chef. "We expect it to be a ‘local neighborhood hangout’ as much as a destination that brings Manhattanites to Brooklyn.''

The Regal will serve until 5 a.m. Thursday through Saturday and begin brunch next week. Among the twists on diner fare are a tuna melt with sushi grade carpaccio, white cheddar, and tomato confit; chicken and waffles with chili maple syrup cotton candy; and Manischewitz-braised short rib.

The cocktail program will feature spiked milkshakes along with 14 wines by the glass, 10 craft beers on tap and 10 specialty cocktails.
