Shanna Pacifico OUT at Cozinha Latina in Greenpoint

The restaurant is now serving basic pub food.

Chef Shanna Pacifico is no longer affiliated with Cozinha Latina, the Brazilian restaurant that she opened four months ago in the Greenpoint space that previously housed the Red Star Bar.  Restaurateur Josh Cohen (Anella) and bar manager Brett Helms (previously of Uncle Boons) also left along with Pacifico. The chef tells Eater: "We began recognizing that our values and the direction of the restaurant were not the same of the owners." Pacifico also notes: "I will continue to work with Josh on new projects coming down the pipeline and I'm very excited by these new opportunities coming my way." Cozinha Latina was the chef's follow-up to her short-lived, but well-reviewed, Crown Heights restaurant Pacifico's Fine Foods.

Since Pacifico, Helms, and Cohen left last week, the owners have drastically overhauled the menu so that it now features pub grub like cheese dip and wings. Look at this thing:

Sietsema liked many of the dishes that he tried on his first visit to Cozinha Latina. Back in November, Eater's senior critic noted:

As we sat and enjoyed our food on an early weekday evening, Cozinha Latina began to fill up with an older and apparently wealthier crowd than the one seen at Pacifico's Fine Foods. Does Greenpoint furnish a more upscale clientele who are more into Brazilian food than the millennials in Crown Heights? Or is Shanna Pacifico finally getting a following interested in her light and colorful touch with vegetables and Brazilian cooking?

Now it looks like the owners have decided to go back to the sports bar formula.
