Last night, at around 10 p.m., smoke was rising from a sidewalk grate in front of Momofuku Noodle Bar. This eerie scene was captured on Instagram by Will Horowitz, the proprietor of nearby restaurants Harry & Ida's and Ducks Eatery:

As Horowitz points out, it looks like this was an electrical fire, possibly caused by melt from the mega-blizzard. Thankfully, the blaze was not inside Noodle Bar, and nobody was hurt. A Momofuku rep explains: "Our staff are safe and sound....We are monitoring the situation in regard to our opening today." Stay tuned for more updates on Noodle Bar's re-opening status as they become available.

UPDATE: Noodle Bar will not open for lunch today.

Update #2: Momofuku Noodle Bar is back open, business as usual.
