On Saturday, after nearly a decade of service, Upper East Side seafood restaurant David Burke Fishtail will close its doors. A representative for the David Burke Group — founded in 2003 with the opening of David Burke Townhouse — explains that the team could not come to terms on its lease at 135 East 62nd Street. In May of 2014, chef David Burke started taking a "backseat" in the day-to-day operations of his restaurants. He's since started working with another mega-group, ESquared. The David Burke Group recently closed David Burke Townhouse as well as David Burke Formagerie in New Jersey. The company, which currently oversees restaurants in New York, Chicago, and Connecticut, does not have plans to relocate Fishtail but instead is looking forward to new developments in the coming months.
