Vandal, the new 360-seat restaurant from Marc Packer, Rich Wolf, Noah Tepperberg, and Jason Strauss — AKA the team that brought NYC the uber-successful Tao and Lavo — opens this Saturday at 199 Bowery. Chef Chris Santos (Beauty & Essex, The Stanton Social), and executive chef Jonathan Kavourakis (The Stanton Social), also partners in this project, have created a menu which runs the international gamut from crunchy jicama shell tostadas to spicy Korean rice cakes to curried cauliflower samosas to Argentinian beef empanadas.
The 12,000 square foot David Rockwell-designed space has multiple dining rooms as well as a cellar lounge and bar. In keeping with Vandal's theme of global street culture, several street artists were commissioned to create paintings and installations throughout. Here's a look at the menu:
