The bakery/appetizing section of Major Food Group's Jewish culinary wonderland Sadelle's is now open for business at 463 West Broadway in Soho. That means that starting right this very second, you can purchase Melissa Weller's bagels, babkas, cookies, and other baked treats to-go. The smoked fish items are also available for take-away. The bakery space will be open from 8 a.m. till 3 p.m. for the next few days. Major Food Group head honcho Jeff Zalaznick sends word that the bistro portion of the space will open next week.  The menu at the sit-down restaurant will include new creations from Weller, Rich Torrisi, Mario Carbone, and their team, including a large-format latke and a smoked fish tower resembling Balthazar's plateau de fruits de mer.

Weller worked at both Per Se and Roberta's, and she's devoted a lot of time over the last year to the recipes for Sadelle's. Stay tuned for pictures of the space and details about the bistro in the coming week. And if you happen to stop by, let us know what you think.
