After a soft opening last weekend, Drexler's is now officially open for business on Avenue A. The cocktail lounge from restauranteur Darin Rubell (Boulton & Watt, Forrest Point, 983-Bushwick’s Living Room) occupies the space that formally housed Ella. The two story establishment features a 35-seat bar on the main floor and a basement lounge replete with a piano. Emporium Design built a bar that has a soft, rustic look with white-washed ceilings, wrought iron, and muted tones. Cocktails are from Dustin Olson (Holiday Cocktail Lounge, Forrest Point) and feature twists on classics like Negronis, Cobblers and Sours, alongside large format cocktails and milk punches. Drexler's is also collaborating with Brooklyn-based Kelso Brewery on a seasonal beer. The food menu skews Italian with a selection of cheeses and charcuterie from mangalitsa hogs reared in New Jersey, all served with bread and a selection of spreads.
