Barchetta Says 'Arrivederci' to Chelsea After a Little Over a Year

The food and wine good, but the critics didn't embrace this restaurant from Dave Pasternack and LDV Hospitality.

Barchetta, the Italian seafood restaurant from crudo whisperer Dave Pasternack and LDV Hospitality, is no longer in business. The website has vanished, the OpenTable page is down, and a rep for LDV confirms that July 3 was the restaurants's last day in business.

Barchetta opened in April 2014 in the space that previously housed Alain Allegretti's La Promenade Des Anglais/Bistro de La Promenade. The LDV team did a full revamp of the space that made it feel a bit more rustic and comfortable. Pasternack's menu had some great pastas and fish dishes, and George Hock put together a smart wine list to complement that seafood. But the critics were hot and cold on the restaurant, and the buzz quieted down by the fall. No word yet on what will take its place.

LDV continues to operate Scarpetta in the Meatpacking District as well as American Cut in Tribeca, plus a string of restaurants in The Hamptons, LA, Chicago, Miami, Las Vegas, and Atlantic City. Pasternack is still the chef/partner at Esca in Hell's Kitchen.
