Fresh off the opening of their sophomore effort Wildair, chef/restaurateurs Jeremiah Stone and Fabian von Hauske are getting ready to celebrate two years at their original project Contra, with some very special guests. The team Instagrammed this image yesterday with no explanation, causing something of a frenzy among New York-based fans of Paris's most impossible to get in to restaurant Septime and its sister Clamato.
Von Hauske tells Eater what's going down: "So, we are getting to our two year anniversary and we wanted to take August and September to bring as many friends of ours to cook with us." That lineup of "friends" will include some major culinary powerhouses from outside the New York scene. First up, Esben Holmboe Bang from the two-Michelin star restaurant Maaemo in Oslo, who will be in the house on August 6 and 7. A month later, Bertrand Grebaut from Septime will cook at Contra for two days sometime during the second week of September (final dates to be decided), and in October, James Syhabout from Oakland's critical darling Commis will be coming East for the party. There are a few other dinners in the works, but for now, the team is staying quiet about them, until things are finalized.
Von Hauske says the dinners will likely be seven-or-eight-course collaborations, and the meals will cost around $150, not including beverages. Reservations will be available through the Contra's website, with those for the Maaemo dinner going live next week.
