The Knitting Factory's booze and food fuel station, Federal Bar should open June 19, just in time for summer concert season. The space has room for 50 but, most importantly, will provide food and drink for the Williamsburg music venue next door. On the menu are nine New York beers, including seven ones from brewers in the borough like Other Half, Brooklyn Brewery, and Threes Brewing. The menu, from ex-Pork Slope chef Brendon Doyle, offers what sounds like solid drunk food: beef heart poutine made with duck fat fried potatoes, mac and cheese with broccoli, and a hot dog of sorts made with duck sausage, root beer onions, mustard, and tomato jam. The company already operates two locations of Federal Bar in L.A., so this is familiar territory for them.
