Smith Street restaurant The Grocery, which helped pave the way for the Brooklyn farm-to-table revolution when it opened more than 15 years ago, will stop dinner service after June 27 and switch to a "special dinners" format in the fall. Flo Fab tweeted the news this morning:
Sharon Pachter and Charles Kiely will close The Grocery in Carroll Gardens after dinner June 27 and reopen in the fall for special dinners.

Smith Street has proven rough for restaurants lately. Saul closed up shop and moved to the Brooklyn Museum, Dassara's Josh Kaplan toyed with moving over to Court Street, longtime staple Savoia is being replaced by a ravioli wine bar, and many storefronts are currently empty.
