Pitmasters Talk Brisket at Hill Country; Family Style Dinner at Acme

FLATIRON — Before the Big Apple Barbecue Block Party gets underway, Hill Country will host a brisket panel with pit masters like Mike Mills of 17th Street Barbecue, Wayne Mueller of Louie Mueller Barbecue, Samuel Jones of Skylight Inn, Billy Durney of Hometown Barbecue, and Charles Grund Jr. of Hill Country. Tickets to the June 11 event are $5 in advance and $7 at the door with the proceeds going to the Madison Square Park Conservancy. [EaterWire]

EAST VILLAGE — Russ & Daughters will celebrate this year's Catch Holland Herring with an evening of herring prepared by chefs like Fung Tu's Jonathan Wu. There will be live music and some bubbly, too. Tickets are $79. [EaterWire]

DUMBO — Van Leeuwen co-owners Laura O'Neill, Benjamin Van Leeuwen, Peter Van Leeuwen, and Olga Massov, will be talking about their debut cookbook and all things ice cream at PowerHouse Arena on June 24.
