It looks like Hector Sanz's restaurant, Rayuela, which has supposedly been under construction since October, is closed for good. His other establishments, including both locations of Macondo and Barraca, were recently shuttered due to tax problems, but have since reopened. But with Rayuela, all signs point to a permanent closure. The restaurant's former chef Alex Urena has since gone on to open another restaurant and the 165 Allen Street space was just listed on Craigslist.
No word yet on what will take over the space. If you hear anything, drop us a line at tips@eater.com.
