Legendary drag club Boots & Saddle finally opened earlier this month in its new home in the old Actors Playhouse — just in time for this weekend's pride parade. The team struggled for almost a year to find a new space after a rent hike unceremoniously forced the team to leave its 40-year-old Christopher Street home. NIMBYs around the West Village weren't happy about the idea of kids passing a drag club or about the potential sound emanating from the bar and kept the team out of a couple of potential locations. But, the bar finally scored community board approval late last year, and so far, things in the new home have "been good" manager and co-owner Rob Ziegler tells DNAinfo. "We still have our regulars and we're picking up some new ones."
The drag shows are back, of course, including a show at the new weekend brunch, courtesy of the bar's first kitchen. The menu includes chicken and waffles, egg dishes,, a breakfast pizza, and pork sliders. Pitchers of screwdrivers and mimosas go for $15, and each entree comes with a complimentary drink.
