Franny's new little sister, a neighborhood bar and grill named Rose's, is settling in across the street in the old Marco's space. Owners Franny Stephens and Andrew Feinberg gave the space a retro makeover with vintage wooden benches, auditorium style seats, and some colorful artwork. The idea, according to Stephens is to keep things casual: "[it's] a true neighborhood spot with the kind of honest bar food we love." Fittingly, there's no menu, just a daily chalkboard of offerings from the kitchen like cheese toast, a burger, fried olives, and a bar salad from Stephens, who ran the kitchen at Franny's when it opened more than a decade ago. Drinks work the same way. Simply order from the chalkboard behind the bar or chat with the bartenders.
Know before you go: Rose's serves food Wednesdays through Sundays and operates strictly as a bar on Mondays and Tuesdays.
