Fort Greene's much-missed Colonia Verde, which was forced to shutter after a fire in February, is making its soft return tonight, complete with a new menu, a spiffed up space, and that sweet al fresco backyard. Something else that's new: The front room will now be a dedicated bar area with snacks, while the back will serve the full menu, reports Grub Street. That menu now includes four different cuts of steak and a burger in a pão de queijo (Brazilian cheese-y bread) bun. Don't worry vege-fiends, there are still some salads like one with grilled oranges and fennel with passion fruit-cachaca dressing and another of grilled peaches and artichokes with pickled onions and a Meyer lemon dressing. Upfront, the snack menu lists "rosemary and duck fat popcorn: nothing more to say that's pretty much it" and eggplant fundido made topped with melted manchego and guava sauce.
The restaurant is in soft open mode for now with a limited menu. Things will go back to full steam starting Tuesday. Brunch will return in two weeks.
