Denisse Lina Chavez and her stellar carnitas are back this weekend. You may recall that two weeks ago her critic-blessed casual Mexican spot Carnitas El Atoradero was forced out of its home by a massive rent hike that came from a landlord after he read about Chavez's food in the Times (yes, people are messed up). Fortunately, she's found a space at the new Vendy Plaza at East Harlem's La Marqueta. Chavez, along with her carnitas and hopefully mole poblano and albondigas, will be a special Sunday-only summer vendor. Meanwhile, Chavez, who still operates her bodega El Atoradero, is looking for a new permanent space for her restaurant and at last check was applying for a Smorgasburg spot. Check back soon for a menu.
