La Gamelle Debuts Brunch and Lunch; East Village Ukrainian Festival

BOWERY — Mathieu Palombino's French newcomer La Gamelle is launching brunch tomorrow and lunch on Monday. At brunch, expect riffs on eggs benedict along with Parisien sandwiches made with sausage, gruyere and mustard, and croque monsieur and madame. CARROLL GARDENS — Rob Newton's Nightingale 9 has added lunch back for the first time since it moved just a block up on Court Street. There are spring rolls, pho, and vegetable fried rice with fish sauce, egg, and scallion. [EaterWire]

EAST VILLAGE — The 39th annual St. George Orthodox Church Ukrainian Festival on East 7th Street will run next weekend, May 15 to 17, with food vendors like Veselka and the East Village Meat Market.
