Smorgasburg Signs on Queens-Based Vendors for an Expansion to LIC This July

Local vendors will gather right next to M. Wells Steakhouse.

Right on the heels of the news that Smorgasburg is headed to Coney Island, the Brooklyn food market phenomenon announces that it will also be opening a Queens outpost on July 11 in Long Island City. This latest venture has the distinction of using only local vendors from the borough, which the Smorg team picked with the help of local food blogger Joe DiStefano, of Chopsticks + Marrow. So food-wise, expect Queens-area specialities like corn cakes from the famed Arepa Lady in Jackson Heights, Filipino food from Woodside's Papa's Kitchen, Thai from Elmhurst's Plant Love House, Mexican ceviche from La Esquina del Camaron, and Asian-flavored cupcakes from Silk Cakes.

This new Smorgasburg will be taking over a 7,500-square-foot lot which sits next to an even larger indoor space. It's right next door to M. Wells Steakhouse, and just a stone's throw from LIC Flea & Food. The Smorgasburg team plans to open in Queens every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., come July 11 and will also be reopening their mobbed Central Park location later that month, so stay tuned.
