Opening Alert: Grand Army, a Boerum Hill Cocktail Bar Dreamed Up by Neighborhood Pros

Drinks from Damon Boelte are inspired by old rail lines.

Nick Solares

Boerum Hill's wait for a serious cocktail bar is officially over tonight. Four neighborhood food and beverage pros — Ruccola's Julian Brizzi, Noah Bernamoff of Mile End, bartender Damon Boelte, and photographer Daniel Krieger — are opening their cocktail and raw bar Grand Army tonight. The newly redone space combines four tiny shops, including a corner cafe, into an airy art-filled space complete with a vintage 1930's bar, unfinished wood floors, and a serious art collection.

Boelte who built the bar and the bar program at Prime Meats in Carroll Gardens and runs The Speakeasy on Heritage Radio will be tending bar here full-time, serving a cocktail menu inspired by old American railroad lines. To go with those drinks, Alder and wd~50 vet Jon Bignelli will serve a menu of mainly seafood and vegetables, complete with a raw bar and some toasts. Check back soon for the menus.
