WILLIAMSBURG — Mast Brothers and the Newport Folk Foundation are throwing a "Hootenanny" next Thursday. The event will take place at the Mast Brothers Factory and features Island Creek Oysters that are shucked to order, food from chef Chris Fischer, of Martha's Vineyard's Beach Plum, and cocktails made with High West Whiskey. UPPER WEST SIDE — Jacob's Pickles is throwing a fundraiser to benefit the new garden of the Urban Assembly School for Green Careers. The food menu includes snap peas with fresh ricotta, mint vinaigrette, and honey; fresh radishes with their greens topped with cultured butter and salt; and freshly juiced mocktails. Tickets to cocktail hour are $100 and another $50 to also attend dinner. The party starts at Jacob's Pickles and will later move to the garden, and tickets can be bought online. [Eaterwire]
