The husband and wife duo behind Brooklyn's beloved pizzeria Franny's will open its new restaurant Rose's Bar & Grill, next Wednesday in the old Marco's spot, just across Flatbush. There won't be any pizza here, rather co-owner Franny Stephens promises Rose's will be "a true neighborhood spot with the kind of honest bar food we love." Think cheese toast, fried olives, fresh baked pretzels, and a burger smothered with cheese. The idea of a neighborhood place may suit their fans better. One of the troubles with Marco's was that some said it was perhaps a touch too pricey. The plans for Rose's sound a bit cozier, a bit more — dare we say it? — Brooklyn.
Andrew Feinberg, Stephens' husband who ran the kitchen at Franny's back in the early days, will be the chef here. His menu is public quite yet, but Stephens says there's a custom wood burning grill, so roasted meats and vegetables seem likely and the team is Instagramming just a few dishes on their new account for those who simply can't wait a week longer.
Know before you go: Once Rose's opens, it will operate as a bar only on Mondays and Tuesdays and as bar and grill the rest of the week.
