Julie Reiner and Ivy Mix Take Drinkers South of the Border with Leyenda

Take a look inside the new Cobble Hill bar, opening next week.

Cocktail queen Julie Reiner is opening her Latin-inspired cocktail bar Leyenda with protegee Ivy Mix sometime next week. The pair took over a large empty space just up the block from Clover Club and gave it a breezy south of the border feel with giant windows that open to the street, aqua-colored bar cabinets, and an outdoor patio. The inspiration for the design and the drinks list comes from Mix's time living in Guatemala and traveling around Central and South America.

The full menu is still being finalized, but Mix promises there will be a tia mia (mezcal, rum, lime juice, orgeat syrup and Curaçao liqueur) and a Palo Negro (tequila, sherry, rum, Grand Marnier, and Demerara syrup). Sue Torres, formerly of Suenos, is consulting on the food menu, which includes coconut-habanero shrimp panuchos, goat picadillo tacos, cheese and black bean papusas with chicharones, and her grandmother's pernil recipe.

The official opening date hasn't been set yet, but the team has promised it will open the bar sometime next week. Stay tuned.
