Sceney Meatpacking Brunch Spot Revel Has Filed For Bankruptcy Protection

The restaurant isn't closed yet, but things aren't looking so good.

Mobbed Meatpacking brunch spot Revel has filed for emergency bankruptcy protection to stay open despite some serious financial trouble. Majority owner Paolo Secondo estimates the monthly revenue of Revel to be about $244,000, which apparently doesn't cut it because New York State wants to close them down for unpaid taxes.

And this wouldn't be the first time Secondo has had money problems with restaurants—his SoHo restaurant Barolo shuttered in 2013, shortly after filing for the same kind of bankruptcy protection. A closure is not definite yet, but there are probably some people out there who will miss the large outdoor space and raucous brunch-time concerts.
