The former Odessa Cafe space sat empty for a year and a half, looking rather sorry, as several bar and restaurant owners considered and ultimately walked away from the space. But finally something stuck. Tonight a rock n' roll themed bar called the Black Rose opens in the space. The bar, with its giant Jim Morrison poster, feels like a bit of a throwback to the old bars of the neighborhood, but made for the 21st century hipsters who likely weren't even alive during Morrison's day. A few of the old elements of Odessa, like the red tin ceiling, are still around, but a DJ station and big backyard (which will debut next month) are all new.

The Menu: Drinks here are named after songs, so you'll find cocktails like the Light My Fire (bourbon, apricot preserve, and lemon) and the Hells Bells (mezcal, lime, agave, and celery bitters).
